We are asked weekly by the community of Alsta enthusiasts when we are going to re-release the original Jaws Watch. These things take time and we had to execute the watch that we knew enthusiasts wanted.

Our attention to detail in recreating our best-known timepiece has been as uncompromising as always. We don’t simply produce carbon copies of old watches - we bring up to date using modern materials and technology and the Nautoscaph Superautomatic was no exception.
In addition to being manufactured and tested to withstand the roughest conditions, Alsta timepieces are also made to be beautiful and elegant in appearance in order to be worn for any occasion be it in the workplace or when dressed that little bit smarter.
The Nautoscaph Superautomatic is an outdoors watch that is styled to be worn on any occasion. It is even made to be used as a dive watch and therefore has a unidirectional bezel which removes the risk of it being accidentally turned while underwater which could result in a fatal miscalculation of dive time.
The Nautoscaph Superautomatic is manufactured and tested to be anti-magnetic to a field strength of 4,800 A/m (ISO 764 compliant) and shock-resistant to ISO 1413 standard which should be sufficient for knocks endured on the snow, the ice or the waves.

Grade 316L is the standard molybdenum bearing grade which means it has high corrosion resistant properties and particularly high resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride environments. It is also anti-magnetic.

The Nautoscaph Superautomatic crown forms part of a triple-lock mechanism that ensures the water resistance of the watch.
We wanted our watches to follow their predecessors by having lovely domed crystals therefore we design and manufacture our glass specially in order that they are true to their heritage in design terms. We decided to go with sapphire crystal in the Nautoscaph Superautomatic as it is tougher wearing day to day than mineral crystal. Also, we agonized long and hard over whether or not to have a magnifying window or “cyclops” above the date. Our dilemma was this; like many dive watch enthusiasts, we prefer no magnifying window on our divers however Matt Hooper did have a magnifier on his watch! Which way do we go? Do we opt for robustness and reducing the risk of damage to the crystal or do we stay true to Hooper? We went for toughness and opted for no magnifier.
