Never following fashions and trends, Alsta has a passion for design and craftsmanship. We believe in conservation as opposed to consumption and our customers care deeply about the preservation of our oceans and lands and their ecosystems. They wear watches that reflect that heritage and ethos and that use sustainably-sourced materials where possible.
With Alsta’s deep connection with our world’s oceans, Alsta looks to eliminate plastics by omitting plastic warranty cards and any other single-use plastics. Alsta is proud to be an annual supporter of World Ocean’s Day, and we are perpetually looking for new ways to reduce our plastics to zero.
We recently made the switch to faux leather cases that are high quality and beautiful without the waste and footprint that comes with animal leather. These luxurious cases are chemical-free, require significantly less water than animal leather, and are produced in ethically-run plants by artisans.
The material
Made partially from corn, this next-generation material contains more than 30% plant content. The raw plant material is corn. Not to be confused with sweet corn, these cases use field corn which is not for human consumption, it’s used for manufacturing.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Calculations suggest that in one growing season, field corn can absorb as much as 36,000 lbs. of carbon dioxide per acre*. Much of the absorbed carbon is returned to the atmosphere when the crop residue decomposes or when the grain is used or burned as bio-fuel. The material is soft and supple, and deceptively durable.

Our Supplier, Watson & Wolfe
The high-performance material we use is the result of years of research and development and is a huge leap towards fully sustainable faux leathers. The manufacturer of the eco-leather is based in Rome, Italy. With three sites globally, the company is committed to developing materials with the optimal mix of technical performance and aesthetic appeal.
The maker
In fashion today, it is important that we understand how our supply chain affects people and ask, “who made my clothes”. While based in Italy, the Watson & Wolfe manufacturing plant in Turkey is a small, fair-wage employer of local people and artisans. They have decades of experience working with global luxury brands
